Mumbai Counts Quarter of All COVID-19 Deaths in India

According to the Ministry of Health, more than one third of COVID-19 cases were registered in the state of Maharashtra, as well as 42 percent of deaths. Mumbai alone saw 21 percent of cases and a quarter of all COVID-19-related deaths in India as of May 28, 2020.

Other states and cities/union territories heavily affected were Delhi, Gugarat (which accounted for 20 percent of deaths despite only logging 9 percent of cases) and Tamil Nadu. In the latter two states, it’s also cities which are heavily affected: Ahmedabad and Chennai, respectively.
